This twenty eight compartment lockable pill dispenser can be pre-programmed to dispense medication on appropriate days and times. Loaded with the correct medication by a carer, family member or pharmacist. When it is time to take the medication, the carousel turns allowing the medication to be released. A melody and your pre-recorded message will play until the device is tipped.

The Medelert Automatic Medication Dispenser is a perfect memory aid and uses an alarm and flashing light to remind users when to take their medication.
The Automatic Medication Dispenser allows users to access their correct dosage of medication, at the appropriate time of day or night, whilst also keeping other pills locked out of sight.
At a preprogrammed time the Automatic Medication Dispenser will sound an alarm (and flashing light) to remind the user to take their medication, at this point the unit will also rotate the compartment so that the medication can be accessed.
When the user tips the unit to retrieve the medication the alarm and flashing light will cancel.
Dispenses medication up to 4 times a day
Large compartments (up to 12 aspirin sized pills)
Easily filled & programmed
Battery operated (portable)

Key Features:

For your own safety we strongly recommend that you read all the instructions carefully before using the dispenser.

Melody alarm and pre-recorded message

Guidance:

We advise you speak to a healthcare professional before buying medication management products and consider the following:

Recognition: a person with dementia will need to recognize the alarm and know how to respond

Learning: a person with dementia may need to learn new routines or be able to follow step by step instructions to use the dispenser.

Filling up: the dispenser will need to be kept topped up. This may be something a carer needs to do.

Battery life: someone will need to take responsibility for changing or charging the batteries.

Familiarity: It may be necessary for a carer to be on hand to check and reassure the user, particularly whilst they are getting used to the dispenser.

Monitoring: carers should be aware that although medication is missing from the dispenser it does not necessarily mean it has been taken.

Medication type: Not all medication will be suitable for use with a dispenser. Check with your pharmacist that your medication can be used with a dispenser, and whether it can be fully removed from its packaging.

Time limit: as dementia progresses, users might not be able to use the dispenser in the same way. Please be aware of changes from the user’s side.

Instructions: for your own safety we strongly recommend that you read all the instructions carefully before using the dispenser.

What people say

Our products are tested and reviewed by people living with dementia and their carers to make sure they are fit for purpose. We use the feedback to decide which products to stock and to help with the information and advice we give.

The feedback also forms the basis of a regular consumer panel article in our Dementia together magazine which may help you to decide if the product is suitable for you.

We encourage customers to review our products so if you decide to make a purchase we would be very pleased if you could add a review.

Sixth letter of jealous

A number of our daily living aids products are eligible for VAT relief for people who are living with dementia, carers or people considered chronically sick or disabled. To help identify these products we have clearly labelled them on our website and catalogues.

What products are eligible for VAT relief?

For a product to be eligible for VAT relief they need to be designed and manufactured solely to help people with disabilities. The HMRC states that "equipment that has been designed solely for people with a disability, chronic or terminal illness or on the adaptation of equipment so they can use it can be VAT exempt".

If you are unsure if a product is eligible for VAT relief please call our team on 03001240900 (freephone).

Please note Postage is not VAT exempt, and the VAT Relief will be removed from the individual items.

Who is eligible?

If you are not sure whether you are eligible for VAT exemption please read Notice 701-7 VAT relief for disabled people or call HMRC’s advice line on 0300 200 3700. Please check eligibility as this is legally binding and there are penalties for false declaration.
