You can see full details of the Kitchen Genie multi opener and buy it here.
I have tried a number of products that claim they can open multiple items and I have found very few to none that worked well opening all, or even just one consistently.
I was not the only one who put this little gadget to the test. My wife, who has her nails done and struggles to open tins or does not have the strength to open bottles or Jars. My dad, who has arthritis in his hands and fingers and then myself, living with dementia.
The designers claim it is a “versatile 5 function kitchen essential”.
The 5 being: drink cans, screw top bottles, bottle tops, jars and ring pulls on tins.
All 3 of us put the product through its paces.
Well, we were all pleasantly surprised by the Genie. Aptly named as it really is magical.
The first thing we all said, is that it fits nicely in your hand. Even my dad who has grip issues managed well. I found the white and green contrast made the Genie easy to find on my work tops.
My wife found all items she opened easy to do with the Genie and I can happily report that no nails were harmed in the review of the product. The length of the Genie though not long, is long enough to provide the extra leverage to open bottles and jars that she needed.
My dad always struggles to open jars and tins that have pull rings due to the arthritis is his hands and fingers. The Genie though made it simple for him. So much so he asked if he could keep this one or else he will buy one. He was impressed that much.
Then for myself. Now I forgot quickly which side does what and which opens what. If you are confused by that sentence, then you can imagine how confused I was trying to guess how to use it. But never fear, the designers have thought of this and put pictures on the handle, so you just have to look to see what you need to open the jar, tin, bottle, etc. Once I looked and followed the instructions, like my wife and dad, I found the Genie very simple to use.
We all found it easy to open pull rings on tins to use the intended slot at the bottom of the handle but then to switch to the jar opener to open the rest of the tin. Perhaps that is just us but that is a tip for you.
