Original vintage photographs featuring people and places from Africa and the Caribbean have been converted into puzzles by the Black Dementia Company.
Giddy House is in Jamaica. It was first built in 1880 and was originally a Royal Artillery House. It partially sank after an earthquake in 1907, hence the name 'Giddy House'.
This series of puzzles displaying images such as this one have been designed to help improve the lives and wellbeing of people living with dementia by featuring familiar themes from African and Caribbean culture.
Image taken in the 1950s.
This 16-piece puzzle is suitable for people with mid to late-stage dementia.
Each puzzle in this series features black and white images or images with limited colour. Research has found that black and white jigsaws are better for older persons. The black and white images (or minimum colour) reduces unnecessary stimuli increasing the ability to focus and enjoy the image and the puzzle.
The puzzles can help to stimulate conversation.
