Bide is a bedside device designed to support those at risk of falls to live independently and safely at home. Accidental falls can have devastating effects for many people and their families. The discreet sensors will detect if the user has woken up and will play encouraging and supportive pre-recorded voice messages from a loved one or carer. Bide also provides a dimmed backlight to help with visibility when the user is moving around at night.
Dr Tom Adler, inventor of Bide says:
“During my 30 years as a GP I saw the devastating effects of accidental falls on my patients and their families. When the same thing happened with my own Mum, I knew I wanted to make a difference, and to try to prevent some of these falls. I am proud that Bide now has the potential to reduce falls and to alleviate stress for both the user and their loved ones/carers.”
The device automatically activates when it gets dark and remains in standby mode until it detects movement. Loved ones can pre-record personal messages offering the user a familiar and reassuring voice when they wake at night, to help prevent falls.
