This twenty eight compartment lockable pill dispenser can be pre-programmed to dispense medication on appropriate days and times. Loaded with the correct medication by a carer, family member or pharmacist. When it is time to take the medication, the carousel turns allowing the medication to be released. A melody and your pre-recorded message will play until the device is tipped.
For your own safety we strongly recommend that you read all the instructions carefully before using the dispenser.
Melody alarm and pre-recorded message
Guidance:We advise you speak to a healthcare professional before buying medication management products and consider the following:
Recognition: a person with dementia will need to recognize the alarm and know how to respond
Learning: a person with dementia may need to learn new routines or be able to follow step by step instructions to use the dispenser.
Filling up: the dispenser will need to be kept topped up. This may be something a carer needs to do.
Battery life: someone will need to take responsibility for changing or charging the batteries.
Familiarity: It may be necessary for a carer to be on hand to check and reassure the user, particularly whilst they are getting used to the dispenser.
Monitoring: carers should be aware that although medication is missing from the dispenser it does not necessarily mean it has been taken.
Medication type: Not all medication will be suitable for use with a dispenser. Check with your pharmacist that your medication can be used with a dispenser, and whether it can be fully removed from its packaging.
Time limit: as dementia progresses, users might not be able to use the dispenser in the same way. Please be aware of changes from the user’s side.
Instructions: for your own safety we strongly recommend that you read all the instructions carefully before using the dispenser.
