For your own safety we strongly recommend that you read all the instructions carefully before using the pill box.
- Simple to operate
- 5 daily alarms with optional vibration
- Optional countdown timer for regular doses
Guidance: We advise you speak to a healthcare professional before buying medication management products and consider the following:
Recognition: a person with dementia will need to recognise the alarm and know how to respond.
Learning: a person with dementia may need to learn new routines or be able to follow step by step instructions to use the pill box.
Filling up: the pill box will need to be kept topped up. This may be something a carer needs to do.
Battery life: someone will need to take responsibility for changing or charging the batteries.
Monitoring: carers should be aware that although medication is missing from the dispenser it does not necessarily mean it has been taken.
Familiarity: It may be necessary for a carer to be on hand to check and reassure the user, particularly whilst they are getting used to the dispenser.
Medication type: Not all medication will be suitable for use with a pill box. Check with your pharmacist that your medication can be used with a pill box, and whether it can be fully removed from its packaging.
Time limit: as dementia progresses, users might not be able to use the pill box in the same way. Please be aware of changes from the user’s side.
